What is the best age to start learning to swim?

Readiness varies by each child's development and comfort. Optimum Swim School offers the Young Swimmer program for ages 3-5 and the Learn to Swim program for ages 6 and above, both emphasising water safety and skill development.

Do you accept children under 3 years old?

No. We currently do not offer a program for children under 3, as this age group is still in early development and may need more time before joining structured classes.

Is there a free trial class?

Yes. We offer a 30-minute free trial so the learner and instructor can build rapport before committing. It is a two-way assessment to ensure a positive learning experience.

Question 4

What are the class durations and group sizes?

Learn to Swim runs in groups of 6-8 students for 55 minutes. Young Swimmer runs in groups of 3-4 students for 30 minutes. Pre-competitive and Water Lifesaving accommodate up to 40 students per one-hour session.

How much do lessons cost and how is the fee structured?

We charge a flat rate regardless of age or level. Subscription packages are billed on a 4, 8 or 16-lesson basis, or you can pay as you go per attended lesson. A discount applies when 16 lessons are paid in advance. See the pricing page for current figures.

What payment methods do you accept?

We operate a 100% cashless system. We accept online transfers, debit cards, credit cards and e-wallets.

Question 7

What should I bring for a swimming lesson?

Accepted Answer

Bring your own swimwear (Lycra or Nylon only), goggles, towel and bathing supplies. A free swimming cap is provided on registration. Caps and goggles are mandatory for hygiene and safety.

Question 8

Do parents need to accompany their children in the pool?

Accepted Answer

No. Our instructors are trained to supervise and ensure the safety of all children during group lessons, which also helps build the child's confidence and independence.

Question 9

What are the pool depths and height requirements?

Accepted Answer

The adult pool is 1.3m deep and requires a minimum height of 145cm. The children's pool is 0.8m deep and suits swimmers at least 95cm tall. Dimensions may vary slightly by branch.

Question 10

Do you provide certificates?

Accepted Answer

We do not issue our own certificates to avoid bias, but we facilitate access to paid exams accredited by the Malaysia Swimming Federation, conducted by impartial examiners. Certification is optional.
